The Big Screen!

Oh, how I love going to the movies!  I love the smell of the popcorn (though I rarely get any), picking the perfect seat, settling in and waiting for the previews to begin.  That's right...I am one of those people who arrive LONG before the movie is about to start and don't mind if I have to go to the theater alone. I love the entire experience and don't want to miss a moment of it.  Last week I had an added bonus (well several) to my movie going experience!  For the first time EVER I was seeing American Graffiti on the BIG screen!  (added bonus one)  To make it even better for the first time my sweet girl was seeing it with me (added bonus two). I have seen American Graffiti MANY times!  Bring it on.... the very young Ron Howard, Harrison Ford and Richard Dreyfuss.  Not to mention all of the other big names stars (Cindy Williams, Mackenzie Phillips, Candy Clark and Suzanne Somers to name a few) that appear in this movie. Oh and I cannot forget Wolfman Jack!

The"BIG" screen!

I have to say the "big screen" experience of American Graffiti did not disappoint me.  The music is the BEST!  I so badly wanted to sing out loud and at times I did.  (Much to my daughter's horror as  I really cannot carry a tune).  I knew every single song by heart!  Each one reminded me so much of my dad and his appreciation for music of all kinds.  It reminded me of how he, many years ago, explained how the Beach Boys came to be and all about how you would dance to 'The Stroll".  I couldn't help but think how great he would think it was that all these years later I was telling my daughter the exact same things he told me the first time I saw American Graffiti. (added bonus three) Yes, it really was a magical day!
