Time For A Birthday Cookie!

Fifty!  What a number!  I cannot believe that I am FIFTY years old.  The AARP application arrived months ago as a reminder that this day was right around the corner and now it is here!  I must admit that turning fifty has caused me to reflect on my life.  I am actually surprised by how much time I have spent the last few weeks reflecting on my life and the journey I have been on thus far.  One thing that is always in the reflection is that I am truly blessed to have such an amazing husband and daughter, a wonderful family and an abundance of friends.  So, so blessed!  Each and every family member and friend have helped shape me into the person I am today.  Some of my friends I met when I was in Kindergarten, some I met when my daughter went to Kindergarten and others in between and after.

I think that turning fifty has caused such a stir in me because at 50 I have lived half of my life without my dad.  When my dad was 51 he unexpectedly passed away.  No warning....just gone.  Definitely the saddest day of my life and one that I relive many times over!  As I hit 50 I am reminded even more so of just how young my dad was.  I do feel he lived every day to the fullest.  He was always present.  Family vacations were something that he and my mother worked hard to make happen.  Holiday traditions were important. Family was the priority.  Everything else in life would work out as long as you had your family and faith.  I have to say I agree with him!

So fifty....how will I celebrate?  That seems to be the question I have been asked a lot this year.  I have celebrated all year!  I took a trip of a lifetime cruise with my husband, daughter and nephew this past July.  I spent a wonderful long weekend in Chicago with two fabulous friends. I have lunches and dinners planned for the next two weeks and and entire day set aside to craft with friends.  I am celebrating plenty!  Living every day to the fullest!! I think my dad would be pleased.
