Swimming By!

Hello Disney and Crafty Friends!  I cannot believe that August is almost over! While many are getting ready for Fall, here in the desert we feel like summer is only half over! Kids are back in school and the stores are showing some Fall displays but we are still having hot, summer days!

It has been a fun filled summer! I attended my annual Scrap Camp! This is always such a FUN weekend filled with lots of laughs, crafting and field trips (Can you say......Hobby Lobby!). Each year we have a theme for Camp and this year it was The Dusty Derby (Think Kentucky Derby).  While at camp it was decided that four of us would have a monthly card exchange. Two months in and we are going strong! I have to say it is super fun to receive a handmade card in the mail!   For this month's card I decided to use a die that I have had for awhile but had not used yet.  Here are the four cards that I created.  Each one is slightly different from the other.

Materials used:
cardstock from my stash
Seashell card die from Honey Bee Stamps
"Swimming By" stamp and die set by Honey Bee Stamps
Memento Ink
Embellishments from my stash
Crystal Laquer
Ultra-Fine Glitter

I just love these dies. I think that the Mermaid has such a sweet expression on her face.

This summer was also filled with new adventures.  My family and I headed to Alaska. We had an amazing time. The weather was fabulous and we enjoyed every minute of it! My favorite part was the train ride in Skagway. The scenery was gorgeous and the history of the railroad was very interesting.

This summer I attended my first Origami Owl Jewelry convention. What a fun filled weekend! So much inspiration, laughter and new friendships made. It was unbelievably fun!!

That is the latest from my little corner of the world. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a magical day!!

Anything Goes........Challenge #18....Create Your Own Background

Hello Disney and Crafty Friends!!! Happy Easter! I hope that you are all enjoying your day!

Today we have a new challenge starting over at Scrapbook Blessings Club.  This is Challenge #18, ANYTHING GOES!  The design team is featuring the tutorial "Create Your Own Background".  I would love it if you headed on over to the Scrapbook Blessings Club and showed us your latest creation!  While you are over there be sure to check out the wonderful things the Design Team did while creating their own backgrounds.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Digi Stamps.  The sweet mermaid on my card is from Bugaboo!

I had a lot of fun creating this card.  For starters I LOVE the beach which made creating this scene extra fun.  I also got to use some products that I had never used before and some that I have not used in awhile.  I played around a lot while printing my digi mermaid.  I was definitely able to place it anywhere on my card stock that I wanted to.  In the end, though, I ended up using an "Action Wobble" to attach the mermaid. I felt that the Action Wobble made it seem like she was bouncing around in the water. LOL  Unfortunately the photo doesn't show her "bounce" but you get the picture. LOL  Here she is:

My Tip - Break out those crafting supplies that you have not used in YEARS!!!  It will be like you are shopping in your craft room and you will be reminded of why you bought the product years ago.

Recipe:
  • Mermaid (includes the fish and some bubbles around her) - Bugaboo Digi Stamps
  • Sun - Stampendous
  • Bird - CTMH
  • Extra bubbles around the Mermaid - company unknown
  • Waves - All Night Media
  • Inks Used:  Cocoa Powder by Fun Stampers Journey (under the sand), Aqua by Hampton Art, Cerulean Blue by Impress and Black by Memento
  • All images were colored with Prismacolor Pencils
  • Stickles
  • Extra Fine Glitter
  • Sand, Shells and Sequins were from my stash.
  • Journey Glaze was used to adhere the sand.
  • Journey Glaze was used on the water, the mermaid's hair, and on the bubbles.  It was also used on the mermaid's tail and then extra fine glitter was sprinkled over the Journey Glaze.
  • Glue dots were used to adhere the shells and sequins.
  • An Action Wobble was used to attach the circle with the mermaid to the card base.
  • Card measures 5" x 5".  Card stock is from my stash.
So how did I begin this card?  I watched the video tutorial several times and decided to follow it pretty closely.  I used the post-its and sectioned my card off. The first thing I sponged was the sand.  Secondly I sponged the water and lastly I used a stencil for my clouds/sky.  Then I added the waves.  I stamped the waves in a slightly darker shade than I used to sponge the water section of the card. Once I had my waves stamped I started to embellish the sand portion of the card.  I have had this sand forever! It was fun to break it out and use it.  Same goes for the shells.  I did not spare the Journey Glaze on this card! I wanted it to look like it had water on it.  I even put some on the mermaid's hair.  For those unfamiliar with Journey Glaze, it works like Glossy Accents or Diamond Glaze.  Awesome stuff and great effects can be achieved with it!

I had loads of fun making this card.  I LOVE the mermaid image from Bugaboo! Such a great image to color and has loads of possibilities!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to join in on the *challenge!  Head on over here to do so.  Have a MAGICAL day!

*This challenge ends May 3, 2014.

Beach Babes 2013

Hello Everyone!  Here is another peek at this years Scrap Camp.  If you would like to see the first two posts you can go here and here.

Two of the gals made these super cute flip flop cookies.  They are made using Vienna Finger cookies, frosting and gummy worms.  Too cute, huh?  Even cuter because the napkin they used looks like a beach towel.

There were rules at Scrap Camp and rule #4 was the most popular one.

 Here's is my favorite:

When we decided that the theme was going to be "beach" we all thought that it would be fun to wear bikinis.  Not just any bikini but these very special bikinis:

I have to tell you, we had SO much fun with these bikini tee shirts.  None of us knew what each other was going to wear.  Imagine my surprise when two other scrappers had the same one as me. LOL  SO FUN!!! We wore these "bikinis"  all day and evening.  Some of us even went out to pick up dinner in them.  Did I say SO FUN?  I think that we spent that first day just taking pictures and laughing about the shirts.

I loved mine!  LOL This is the only time that I enjoyed wearing a swimsuit.

Here's the back of it:

For all of you that are wishing you could have one of these super cool bikini tees you can.  We got them at Gadgets and Gizmos .

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what Scrap Camp was all about this year.  I had a ball.  I have to say that it is the AMAZING group of gals that attend that make it the fantastic time that it is. Each one contributes so much to camp and it is the wonderful combination of all *ten of us that make it the blast that it is.  Thank you to all of the Scrapping Beach Babes for another fabulous camp!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope that you have a magical day doing something that you love!!!!

* This year one of our campers could not attend.  I have to say she was deeply missed!!

Scrapping at the Beach

The growing pile in my hallway.

As the date to my annual Scrap Camp drew closer the pile of things that I needed to take grew. (see picture at left)  Did I use everything that I took?  Of course not but I absolutely loved having it all with me just in case I needed it. LOL  Here is another peek into what I consider to be one of the best annual events EVER!!!!!  (This is my second post regarding camp.  To read the first post go here.)
My van.....loaded to the max!
Here I am ready to back out of my drive.  Unfortunately I couldn't see out! LOL
I have finally arrived!

The "Snack Shack" at the beach!

The first round of prizes.

Decorations!  Beautiful painting done by my roommate's daughter.

Our beach!

We even had a tree for shade if we needed to get out of the sun.

I hope that you enjoyed another peek into Scrap Camp.  This is the second  of three posts that I will be doing about this fun weekend.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope that you have a magical day!

Scrap Camp 2013

It comes but once a year but it is so worth the wait.  What is it you ask?  It is Scrap Camp. I spend three fun-filled days once a year with 9 amazing ladies.  We have done it for years now.  We started out as part of a group of over 100 gals.  The woman that organized the event moved on to other things but not our amazing group of ten!  We continue on and as we do so does the fun!! This year the theme was "Beach".  I was in charge of the prizes and enjoyed every minute of the shopping that goes along with being the Prize Patrol! I started my shopping last summer once items hit the clearance racks.  For almost a year I stored beach blankets, sand pails, coolers, etc.  You name it and if it was beach related I stored it for prizes at camp.  Here is a peek into the beginning of the fun:

The brightly colored pails that I was storing soon turned into a welcome gift full of goodies for the Scrapping Beach Babes that attended camp.

Here are just a few of the things that I filled the pails with:

I found these adorable sunglasses at Target.  They are bag clips.  Too cute, huh?  What is a day at the beach without sunglasses?

You can always use flip flops at the beach.  These are note pads.

Sunscreen is a MUST!

Water is super important on a hot beach day!

The pails are coming along.

They are finally done!

Here is a close up of the tag.  I used my Cricut to cut out the beach ball.  I sprayed Goose Bumps on it to give it the "wet" look.  On the back I added a welcome note wishing the Beach Babe a
"Sand-Tastic Time!"

I hope that you enjoyed the peek into camp.  I have lots more to share with you.  Thanks for stopping by and have a magical day!!

Back From The Beach

My girl running in the ocean.

I am back from spending a fun-filled week at the beach!  We had a wonderful vacation filled with relaxation, poolside naps, boogie boarding in the ocean, a day at SeaWorld, shopping and seeing old friends. It was the perfect summer vacation!  When I asked my daughter what her favorite part of the trip was she replied "everything".  I definitely agree with her!

While I was on vacation I went to a great store, Paper Tales. If you are ever in the San Diego area I highly recommend that you check out Paper Tales.  The staff is super friendly and the store is jammed packed full of great products.  Here is what I couldn't live without:

I hope that you all are having a wonderful day!  Now that vacation is over I am getting caught up on all the usual household chores.  I hope that tomorrow brings me time to craft and play with my new purchases.  I hope that you all have a magical day and thanks for stopping by.
